Takeoff 2025 Q3 Update
Hey, everyone!
We wanted to share some updates with all of you on what we have planned for the next few months.
Let's dive in.
New Interface
Today we finished rolling out our new interface to all users.
Our previous version was a little cluttered, and we've simplified the experience. We're resetting versioning and calling this version v1.0.0 - this will help simplify future updates on new content and features.
Some minor notes:
- Courses and workshops are now in the same place. Workshops are just a type of course that you can now filter by. We want to push more into workshops in Q3, and we want to make sure that everyone can find them easily.
- We've removed the feed in favor of a new "What's New" tab in the dashboard. This is where you'll get updates without having to check a separate page.
- For those of you who liked the o1-pro workflow prompts, you can still find those at JoinTakeoff.com/prompts.
- In lessons, the course outline has been moved to the right. The main Takeoff sidebar is on the left.
Projects & Spark
We're working on a new internal coding platform called Spark.
Think of Spark as a vibe-coding platform like Bolt or Lovable, but with a built-in AI teacher based on our content.
We plan on slowly rolling this out in Q3 as we continue to hone the experience. If you'd like to be an early tester, please email us at feedback@takeoffai.org!
Until then, we've heard your feedback and will be introducing more standard projects. Like workshops, these will be a new course type that you can find on the same page as courses and workshops.
Release Schedule
This has been our #1 problem. The AI space moves extremely fast, and release dates can quickly become impacted by things like model upates and new coding tools. In a single day an entire week of content can instantly become outdated.
This quarter we're going to refrain from doing a content calendar. We don't want anyone to feel misled by release dates that get delayed, and we feel it's best to just release content when it's ready instead of trying to predict the future.
One of the things we're going to lean more into is workshops, which we view as "in-the-moment" content that's both relevant and useful. This will help us strike a balance with our more formal courses and ensure that content comes out quicker.
We hope this change combined with more frequent releases will help solve this problem.
Community Features
Special request for feedback here!
Takeoff has grown past the point of being able to support a Discord, and we've been trying to figure out the best way to support and foster a community of learners and builders.
We've now run 3 different betas of forum experiences, and frankly, all of them have been a poor experience - hence why we've not rolled it out to everyone. This is a problem we're actively working on and trying to solve.
We're currently working on the 4th iteration of this, and we plan to run a new beta in July. If you'd like to be included in the next beta, please email us at feedback@takeoffai.org!
Closing
Overall, our main focuses in Q3 are:
- More frequent content releases, especially around projects and workshops
- Rolling out Spark
- Figuring out the right forumula for community features in conjunction with our community, and getting it shipped to everyone
